Up until God brought my wife, Trish, and me to New Spring Church, we had not been involved in church. I had always believed in God, but I didn't know anything about the Bible. I wanted to walk with God, but I didn't know how. I didn't know how to pray. I began talking with my friend, Wayne Sammons, about this, and he invited us to New Spring. New Spring was getting ready for their first public service at the Fire Department in Barnardsville, NC on July 7, 2013.

Immediately, I felt accepted and loved at New Spring and began to develop a hunger for the Bible. When I first started coming, I didn't know much about the Bible at all- how the people and events all fit together. Pastor Gray preaches in a way I understand, so I would just take in the message. When New Spring began small group Sunday School, we started going. In our group, we are able to discuss the Scriptures and ask questions about things we don't understand. I also started listening to messages on the radio, and when "The Bible" television series came on, I stayed up all night long to watch it and see how it all fit together. To this day, I can't get enough of the Bible, and God has used it to change my life.

Earlier in my life, I did not understand the importance of believer's baptism, but soon after coming to New Spring I began to sense this is something God wanted me to do. I really struggled with it and kept putting it off. I had played around with the thought that I might get baptized during March of 2014 in New Spring's brand new baptistery, but I was not sure. The day before that Baptismal Service, a series of incidents happened that had me going to Charlotte unexpectedly. On the way down, I decided to listen to some new Christian music that one of my new friends at church, Chris Blanton, had downloaded for me. It just would not work, so I reverted back to my own playlist of 2200 songs, with mostly metal and other secular music. I just hit "play" for it to randomly select a song. I fully expected to hear a metal song, but out of 2200 songs, "Are You Washed in the Blood of the Lamb" begin to play. Needless to say, I made it back to New Spring and was baptized the next day.

So how has a relationship with Christ changed my life? For one thing, He has helped me with my anger issue. In my past, I really struggled with holding my temper, especially around certain people. There was one dude in particular, and I would get up every morning thinking, "I'm gonna corner that dude today." After I began living for Christ instead of myself, one day I woke up and realized I wasn't mad at him anymore. He said to me, "This whole 'Jesus-thing' is looking good on you." Jesus took my anger away. Also, I love living by faith everyday - just realizing that things are in God's hands and not mine. I don't stress about finances, and God has turned my family around. Plus the people I've met at New Spring - they're like a family to me. Something else God has done in my life is He's given me the privilege to pray with other people. He's provided me true friendships. Another blessing of being at New Spring Church is seeing all the college kids who come and their commitment, even without their mamas and daddies being around.

All I've seen at New Spring Church is a testimony to God's work. I'm spreading the Gospel to others around me, and people have noticed that Jesus has changed me. I would like to invite you to New Spring Church. We're not the kind of church who is going to put you down if you don't know the Bible. You'll get the best schooling on the Bible you can get anywhere.  And we'll help you learn. Come join us this Sunday and see for yourself.
